Death Guard v Iyanden Batrep

This was a 3000 point Epic Armageddon game between my development-stage NetEA Death Guard and Richard D's Epic-UK Iyanden force.

DEPLOYMENT

 

TURN ONE

Start of turn one, 11 zombies arrive.

 

Eldar win the strategy roll. Wraithguard engage the zombies.

 

The remaining four zombies run.

 

The Plagueship fails to arrive even with the Supreme Commander reroll. Very irritating as the planned barrage would have been right on top of a formation of War Engines.

 

Cobra and Storm Serpent double and put some Blast Markers on the Death Guard Retinue.

 

SC retinue break after being asssaulted by Wraithguard through the Storm Serpent's gate.

 

Indicators double and take overwatch fire from some Rangers.

 

Wraithguard plus seer triple.

 

Blight Drones shoot the Wraithguard then the Desecrators fail to retain to take advantage of this.

 

The other Engines of Vaul double and the next lot of Wraithguard engage out, taking three BMs from Overwatch, almost enough to break them before the assault!

 

Two rounds of combat results in both sides breaking!

 

The Tower sustains on the broken Wraithguard to no effect other than some Blast Markers on the formation behind them.

 

Vypers come out of the gate and shoot the Blight Drones for no kills.

 

The Fester Titan doubles into cover and breaks the leftmost Wraithguard formation.

 

My BTS fails to rally.

 

TURN TWO

 

The Avatar arrives and is engaged by the unbroken Death Guard Retinue, with supporting fire from the Fester who crits.

 

The Fester retains and breaks the Wraithguard formation that summoned the Avatar.

 

Scouts bounce off the Vindicators in combat!

 

Tower advances and crits an Engine, breaking the formation.

 

Vypers break the Vindicators and everyone runs for the Eldar Blitz objective (top edge of the circle).

 

The Plagueship finally arrives and disgorges many many Barrage Zombies now that the Eldar have safely left the nominated barrage area.

 

Second Engines of Vaul formation fails to activate and run away from zombies and tower.

 

Bleeping skimmers and Zombie with no Firefight value! The Vypers lost combat anyway and ran away from all the gribblies down on the ground...

 

TURN THREE

How many zombies?!?

 

Wraithguard and seer kill the Vindicators and face up to all the zombies.

 

Some Wraithguard break the Fester Titan.

 

Zombies kill a Wraithguard, woo!

 

The last Blight Drone tanks all the shots from two Engines of Vaul but breaks from the Blast Marker.

 

Yet more zombies head for the Eldar Blitz objective.

 

Rallied Cobra shoots the broken Fester to no effect.

 

Finally, the Walker formation fails to activate when they needed to double to take two objective, leaving the game as a 0-0 draw! Technically it should have gone on to trun four but we were out of time.
