Breaking the Pledge!

Well, that didn't last long, did it? :-(

I started off with such good intentions to paint up my existing Infinity models before buying more models and although I've picked up the pace of the painting as a result, it's a mere month and a day (a year and a day would have been so much more poetic) later and I'm about to buy a pile of The New Shiny.

You can blame Corvus Belli and Beasts of War — as part of Infinity Week on Beasts of War, Corvus Belli have put together a bunch of 50% off army deals consisting of a starter pack and either a TAG and a blister pack or a starter pack and a bunch of blisters for each faction. Even with shipping from Spain to the UK this works out 30-40% cheaper than even Maelstrom Games' discounted prices. Club together with a few other gamers and it gets even cheaper.

As a result I'm buying the Nomad Army Pack to get the excellent Szalamandra TAG and some more Infantry (the Lunokhod will be sold on as you can only have one in a list), the Ariadna Army Pack for the Tankhunter with Autocannon and the Mirage-5 combo of Margot Berthier and a slavering Werewolf with a parachute and possibly the Combined Army Army Pack which I will split with the CA player in the club so that he gets the huge drop-troop Caskuda TAG while I get the infantry.

Combined with figures that I've paid for with writing time instead of money - review models and models in return for writing some articles about Infinity - and the painting pile is about to get rather large. Although several of the review models will be going as prizes for the Infinity demo games I'll be running at the Legionary games convention in May and the Infinity and 40k tournament that my club is running in June...

On the one hand it's a shame to break the pledge so soon and in such a huge way, on the other hand – NEW SHINY! :-)

Oh, and a noticeable reduction in the amount of proxying that I'm doing using old Kryomek and 40k models...

in an effort to keep this all vaguely on track I'm still going to finish painting the first batch of Nomads before assembling the Haqqislam. Here are the newest three additions, a Zondbot helper drone and two Wascally Dastardly Cwazy Koalas!

P.S. The urban base of the Zondbot is from Antenociti's Workshop.
