Scenery Reference Library

Having been a photographer for many years before moving sideways into being an eBay trader, I still tend to think photographically and use the observational skills built up in those years when doing gaming-related tasks.

This comes across particularly strongly when making wargaming terrain - I have a large collection of photographs of interesting details and textures to use when thinking about how a piece of scenery or terrain should be constructed/finished.

Something I've wondered about for awhile now is whether to start putting some of this reference library online so that other scenery makers can benefit from it. Need to know what weathered Tarmac looks like? Head over to the scenery reference library and do a search...

The images would all be key worded with subject matter and condition, making it easy to find the different images.

So, how many of you would find this useful?

Here are some sample images, to give you a taster:

Well...

Not really.  I use a lot of textures for my photoshop work, and I tend to source them with Google images rather than a specific texture library.  You'd have to have your library compete with the biggest library out there - the internet's. What would be useful is if you collected textures/ref photos of stuff that only people making terrain would find useful and didn't normally get photographed.  Like clumps of grass or patches of snow.

Ta!

The idea is to take photos of subjects specific to scenery-making, so things like clumps of grass and patches of snow are good ideas.

It's coincidence that the sample images are mostly textures rather than objects.
